Advocacy Alert: USDE Seeks Comments for Accrediting Agencies Under Review for Recognition
Middle States Commission on Higher Education | MSCHE
May 10, 2024
The United States Department of Education (USDE) has requested written third-party comments regarding accrediting agencies that will be under review at an upcoming National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) meeting.
MSCHE is one of the five agencies undergoing review as part of USDE’s Accreditor Federal Recognition Process, which accreditors undergo every five years, and is scheduled to appear relating to a compliance report. More about the compliance report can be found in the letter of the Senior Department Official (SDO) available at USDE’s e-Recognition Public Documents.
The Federal Register includes further details and instructions on how to submit written comments. Comments are limited to the criteria for recognition cited in the SDO letter that requested the compliance report. We encourage our constituents to submit comments by USDE’s deadline of May 20, 2024.
MSCHE is recognized by USDE to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation (candidacy status) activities for institutions of higher education, including distance education and correspondence education programs offered at those institutions, throughout the United States.
